Challenger to Champion: The Electrifying Journey of a Dual Entrepreneur

Challenges have a habit of feeding off each other and overwhelming you with their sheer ferocity and unrelenting nature. This is especially true in a successful business woman story. It is not often you see someone taking challenges by the scruff of their neck and beating them at their own game. Until you meet Pushpalatha M S, the Cofounder and Director of GarbhaGudi group of companies. This story, as told to HerMoneyTalks, is of an entrepreneur who created a spot for herself in a male-dominated industry and co-founded a company with a 100-crore valuation.

Pushpalatha is an engineer and an entrepreneur who started her journey as a lecturer in engineering colleges. Later, she co-founded not one but two companies. Her first venture was Indus Technology, authorized distributors of electronic components suppliers to public sector companies. Subsequently, she co-founded Garbhagudi, an IVF Centre and Fertility Hospital.

In a remarkable journey spanning just 10 years, Pushpalatha shares her story - a successful business woman story - and exhilarating experiences that went with it.

Struggle sparks learning, learning ignites business experience

As an entrepreneur, when Pushpa began her first venture in distribution, the industry was male-dominated. "Working in that atmosphere and creating a place for myself was a bit of challenge. Later, with GarbhaGudi, it took them around 6 months to accept the fact that a non-medico was running the hospital," confides Pushpa.

As she scripted a successful business woman story, it took excruciating effort and time for her to learn and understand the whole process of infertility treatment and manage them. With those struggles, challenges, and testing times came learning, experience, and knowledge. "I am grateful for that," exclaims Pushpalatha

This powerhouse entrepreneur feels the more we put ourselves into challenging and testing situations, the more we gain from it. "We learn how to overcome them and turn struggles into opportunities." adds Pushpa.

Future a disconnected progeny of the past

Pushpa strongly believes that in a successful business woman story, one's past is never a determiner of the great future that lurks ahead. She herself did not let her past deter her. Not being good at academics never stopped her from exploring her potential to achieve her dreams.

How willing we are to put ourselves into uncomfortable zones, learn from them, and move ahead defines our progress!

"Never doubt your capabilities and what you could achieve. All that is required is to keep moving in life and achieving your dreams. That is something that defines you. It is necessary to always keep progressing and learning no matter what," discloses Pushpa.

Positivity and mentorship the energy sources for an entrepreneur

Pushpa has absolutely no doubt that women can start and run their own business. Women are very capable and should look at running a business as an exciting journey rather than as a challenge, feels the dual-preneur.

"It all depends on what you are ready to put at stake and keep moving forward. When there are downs, you can either crib about it or think about how you can bounce back. Your decision drives you!"

There is a common element in every successful business woman story - good mentors can change their life. It becomes necessary to identify mentors, as they play a huge part in making apt decisions and guide on the right path.

"Since I had good mentors at each stage of life, I was able to take the right decisions. I could move in the correct direction and keep progressing," beams Pushpa.

Women entrepreneurs and finances

Pushpalatha opines that every woman needs to be independent in making financial decisions and have an understanding of the finances. She has three simple and straightforward financial tips for women entrepreneurs.

(1) Have financial discipline

(2) Managing cash flows is very important; know the inflows and outflows of your organization or business

(3) Plan your budget and projections well

The co-founder of two companies now wishes to expand her company's reach across India. She has a piece of advice for all the women out there: "Keep moving and never stop. If a plan doesn't work out, think of an alternative. Hold on to your strategies and improvements. Have the fire within yourself to go and play your 'A' Game out there!"

"The purpose of my life is to empower women and children to lead a holistic and value driven life", signs off Pushpalatha.

If that does not inspire budding women entrepreneurs, nothing will.
